A programme of indoor athletics is to be held for Derry’s primary five, six and seven school children to encourage them to take part in sports activity to improve their fitness, co-ordination, mobility and confidence.

The After Schools Sports Hall Athletics Programme, organised by Derry City Council Sports Development section, will run for six weeks in Templemore Sports Complex (pictured above) from Wednesday, 25 February, from 3.45pm to 5.15pm.

The programme will be overseen by fully qualified and experienced coaches who will deliver “one to one” coaching in a number of disciplines including javelin, discus, shot putt, relays, tunnel running and hurdles, high jump, long jump and triple jump.

Drills will also be to enhance mobility, agility, speed, reactions and co-ordination.

Registration forms are available from Templemore Sports Complex.

The total cost of the six- week programme is £20, payable at registration.
