Danske Bank Mallon Shield Final – St Mary’s Limavady v St Joseph’s Newry The senior boys in St Mary’s have led the way for the GAA resurgence in the Limavady area with Derry captain Chrissy McKaigue leading the charge. On Friday (12 noon - MUSA Coosktown) the Year 9 boys are hoping to get their slide of glory and McKaigue recognises their efforts. “The hardest working group in the school who have been training since September. Richard Ferris has been fantastic in helping with the boys all year. It is really now we are seeing the improvement that as coaches we have been searching for all year.” Local Limavady man Sean Deehan from the Wolfhounds club is the captain and he also played in last year’s winning Gerry Brown Cup team. He is backed up by Gabriel Caffrey at midfield with Daniel McKee providing the outlet at wing forward and Niall Kealey giving the stability in defence. Along the way Limavady saw off St Joseph’s Derry, St Colm’s Twinbrook and Banbridge and go into a fourth Ulster Final in two years. McKaigue is hopeful another title would continue their GAA vision. “We are hoping to take more silverware through the gates. As always our primary aim will be to represent the school and area with pride and distinction.”
