The new path will be laid around the existing playing pitch at Leafair (pictured) In June of this year, councillors on the local authority gave their approval to a number of new upgrades for the council-owned facility. These included an upgrade of the existing grass pitch and recreational area to provide ramped access to to the playing area, stepped access to either end of the pitch, a path aroundthe existing grass pitch and associated amenity lighting. A planning officer with the council said the improvements would ‘provide greater accessibility for people of all abilities and represents an investment in the existing recreational infrastructure’. The council has now issued a tender for the contract which will see the successful applicant take on the construction of a new path with lighting around the existing grass playing pitch. The tender document states that the estimated value, excluding VAT, of the contract is £220,000.
