Brighton and Republic of Ireland defender Shane Duffy out injured for six weeks

Derry born Brighton defender Shane Duffy will be out injured for at least six weeks with a foot injury which requires surgery. The 25-year-old Republic of Ireland international fractured a metatarsal in the closing stages of Brighton's 3-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest on Saturday. Centre-back Duffy is expected to have an operation on Tuesday. He will also miss the Republic of Ireland's World Cup qualifier against Wales. Martin O'Neill's side face Wales in Dublin on 24 March and Duffy will also be ruled out of the home friendly against Iceland four days later.
