Derry Ladies IFC FinalClaudy 4-11 Magherafelt 0-1 Last year Claudy were pipped by Faughanvale, but this year they made no mistake ask they dispatched with 2018 junior champions Magherafelt to end 12 months of hurt. Goals from Daire White, Ciara White, Danielle McCloskey and Orla McGinley helped the Mitchel’s to a victory that forward Caoimhe McNabb admitted was a long time coming. “We’ve been waiting for this for five years. Steelstown beat us a few times, Moneymore thrashed us and then Faughanvale beat us by a point last year so it was fifth year lucky, but we done it. It was the longest hour of my life,” she joked. “We’re delighted to get over the line.” https://soundcloud.com/user-192046585/claudys-caoimhe-mcnabb-happy-to-end-the-hurt-and-grab-championship-glory Despite a good start, eight first-half wides had some nerves jangling amongst the Claudy camp, but McNabb agreed that they kept their heads well and just persisted with tagging on the scores. “We don’t have a good record from that point of view. Last year we were ten points in front at half-time, so we never settled today,” she explained. “We were dropping balls everywhere and the nerves were on us, but we closed it out and hopefully we can build on it now going into the Ulster campaign.” More coverage in Monday's Derry News and Tuesday's County Derry Post.
