County Derry’s Judith MacCombe is ‘bringing everything and the kitchen sink’ to Paris for the Paralympics.

Paralympics Ireland and their athletes set off for the 2024 Paralympic games on Wednesday from Dublin Airport.

There will be three representatives from County Derry for Ireland at the competition: twin sisters Judith and Chloe MacCombe from Claudy and Dearbhaile Brady from Feeny.

Chloe is among the favourites to collect a Paralympic medal in the triathlon, with the 29-year-old currently the world number 3 and silver medalist from the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Judith qualified in fine form for Paris with a standout performance as she finished fourth in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

And in a playful post to Instagram, Paralympics Ireland are poking fun at the tandem bike Judith was carting through Dublin Airport in front of the crowd, wishing them well.

The twins are both visually impaired and so require guides for their eventatherine Sands (Chloe) and Eimear Nicolls (Judith), and in the cycle stage of the triathlon, a tandem bike is required.

Meanwhile, teenager Brady will represent Ireland in the pool.

Having recently won the bronze medal in her discipline at the European Championships, the Feeny native will be quietly confident of securing a medal at the Paralympic Games.
