Met Eireann predict 21C sunny weekend but there's a twist coming within days

Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland for the coming days

Irish people are warned to enjoy weekend sunshine as Met Éireann predicts 'heavy showers' with 'possible thunderstorms' to hit in some places early next week.

On Friday May 9, it will be a sunny day with dry, long spells of sunshine and highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees generally.

It will be a little cooler near some coasts in a light southerly or variable breeze, Met Éireann said.

On Saturday May 10, Met Éireann predicts it will be a mostly dry day with spells of sunshine though with some cloud building and with showers developing, most likely for Atlantic coastal counties.

Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 or 21 degrees in a light, occasionally moderate southerly or variable breeze.

On Sunday May 11, "there is some uncertainty in the details," Met Éireann reports, "but indications are that it will be mostly dry and sunny at first before showers or showery outbreaks of rain develop through the day".

There will be some heavy showers possible later in the day with highest temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees.

Sunday night will be mild with further showers or showery outbreaks of rain.

On Monday May 12, showers or showery outbreaks of rain are likely to continue through much of the day.

Some heavy or thundery falls are possible and it will be generally driest, sunniest and warmest in the north.

Highest temperatures of 16 to 21 degrees in a mostly moderate easterly wind. The rain and showers will ease overnight, with most places becoming dry. Temperatures will not fall below 7 to 11 degrees.

On Tuesday April 13, Met Éireann said that current guidance suggests there will be plenty of sunshine but some heavy showers will develop, particularly in the southwest and west, with thunderstorms possible.

Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees generally, warmest in the west, in a light to moderate easterly wind.
