What is believed to be Ireland's oldest woman, Bridget Tierney, has passed away at age 108.
The Cavan woman, from Drumgore, Loughduff, passed away peacefully in the care of her family.
Born in July 1915, Ms Tierney was a great-great grandmother and was a mother of nine children.
She had 30 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
"How wonderful to have had Bridget for nearly 109 years, you all as her family must be so proud of her, may she now rest in peace," one person said, leaving their condolences with the Tierney family.
"Sincere sympathy to all the Tierney Family on Brigid's death. She was a beautiful lady, cherished and so lovingly cared for by her family. May she rest in peace," said another person.
Another person shared a fond memory of Ms Tierney: "I have a lovely memory of visiting your Granny Bridget with you in 1989/1990 and thinking how lucky you were to have such a lovely granny in your life. What a privilege it must have been to have more than 30 more years of her wonderful warmth, wit, wisdom and welcome," they said in their heartfelt tribute.
Last month, Kitty Jeffrey, who was believed to be Ireland's oldest women, died in her 110th year.
