Heavy downpours are to be expected until next week, warns Met Éireann

MORE weather warnings could come in this week as further outbreaks of rain are to be expected over the next few days.

According to Met Éireann, current indications show the weather will remain unsettled for over a week as scattered rain and heavy downpours are to be expected.

“It will remain unsettled for the weekend with further heavy showers or spells of rain expected. It will be breezy and blustery too with temperatures in the mid to high teens. There will be sunny breaks too,” stated Met Éireann.

There will be sunny spells and scattered showers today, with isolated thunderstorms and surface water flooding in the east. Highest temperatures will range from 16 degrees in the northwest to 20 degrees in the southeast, in moderate to occasionally fresh westerly winds. This evening more persistent showery rain will extend into the west.

Wednesday will become dry for many areas with clear spells but with a few showers lingering over Ulster and Atlantic coastal areas. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in mainly light westerly breezes.

Thursday will bring a further mix of sunny spells and showers. Highest temperatures of 16 to 18 degrees in light west to southwest breezes.

Friday will be a cloudier day with patchy light rain initially, giving way to more persistent and potentially heavy outbreaks of rain for many areas through the day and overnight. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees in moderate south to southeast winds, stronger near coasts.
