A man who was jailed earlier this week for 5 years for attempted grievous bodily harm with intent on Karol Kelly who was murdered in Derry on March 4 2018 has been fined at Derry Magistrate's Court today.
Michael Dunlop (21) of no fixed abode admitted a charge of assault and threatening criminal damage on July 14.
The court heard that police were called to a report after an argument between Dunlop and a family member.
When Dunlop's aunt came on the scene he tried to headbutt her and threatened he 'would put her windows in.'
Defence counsel Plunkett Nugent said this man had been originally charged with murder but was found not guilty after the trial.
He said that Dunlop entered a relationship which caused difficulties and this led to the incident.
The barrister said Dunlop had been 'virtually on the run' for a number of weeks after this before being taken into custody.
Dunlop was fined £200.
