Traffic is set to be moved onto the Dungiven Bypass from this weekend, the County Derry Post understands.
It is believed part of the bypass will be opened up to traffic to faciliate ongoing works.
Sinn Féin Councillor Kathleen McGurk met with contractors Willis Bros yesterday (Monday) to discuss an update on the ongoing work.
Councillor McGurk said following the completion of a new mini roundabout at the Feeny road/ Foreglen Road junction later this week, traffic will be diverted along the bypass.
Derry-bound traffic will need to use the new roundabout at Feeny Road to access Dungiven.
The Sinn Féin woman said that local access will be permitted to Tracey's Way, Abbey Fields and Magheraboy estates.
A Department for Infrastructure spokesperson said: “This is another phase of Temporary Traffic Management to be implemented in April 2022.
“This section is not completed and will be operated under significant TM for a period of time to allow the contractor to carry out other works.
"Other sections of the proposed dual carriageway have been used previously in a similar manner with Traffic Management.”
