Fast food giant KFC have said they will look into the overwhelmingly negative reviews of its branch at Castledawson Roundabout.

Of the 26 reviews of the KFC on Tripadvisor, 18 customers ranked it as 'Terrible,’ while six ranked it as ‘Poor.’ One customer went as far as to describe the fast food outlet as 'The world’s worst KFC – without a doubt'.

The fast food outlet is ranked number 32 out of 33 restaurants in Magherafelt on Tripadvisor, with only a restaurant that has yet to receive any reviews below it on the list.

Among the reviews on Tripadvisor are complaints of 'disgusting food,' wrong orders and staff ignoring customers. Several reviews also describe the outlet as 'filthy,' 'grotty' and 'minging'.

“Having lived in England for many years we have been spoiled by the KFC franchises there. This one is so awful I can't believe it is still open. We ate here earlier in the week and the place was FILTHY,” one reviewer wrote in August 2016.

“I had to clean down tables and chairs for us to eat at. Bins were overflowing, floor covered with chips, wasps everywhere. I dread to think what the areas we can't see look like.”

One reviewer complained about ordering a two-piece chicken meal and being told that there was only one piece of chicken left in the store. Another reviewer from March 2016 was unhappy about the behaviour of staff.

“Not only is the service really slow but the place was filthy. Staff being rude to other staff and a massive queue which took ages to move,” he wrote.

“Only stayed because we were desperate but should have left. Missing items from the order and the food was terrible. A total waste of time. The only way to improve the mess of this place and make it hygenic would be to use a flamethrower.”

A number of reviewers called for a change of management at the KFC, while others have called for it to be shut down.

The branch also has only 1* star reviews on Facebook. Reviewers complained that their orders were wrong and that food was cold, while two suggested that the restaurant didn’t even deserve a 1* rating.

One reviewer complained in March 2017 that her son 'loves to get one a Monday after swim lesson as a treat but it's always far from a treat'.

“If I could rate zero stars it would if got that. I'm surprised this dump is still open!,” she wrote.

“Last week he got Fanta which was fizzy water and popcorn chicken that was cold. I had a wrap which was only a third full. We ask for a plain and a zinger wrap. We got a zinger wrap with plain chicken and a plain wrap with zinger chicken. Think I'll drive the extra 10+ plus miles to different KFC and we might actually get what we are looking for.”

Responding to the complaints, a KFC spokesperson said they were 'sorry to see some of the comments that have been left about this restaurant'.

“We’ll be looking into this and will make any changes necessary to ensure that our fans have the great experience we pride ourselves on,” the spokesperson said.
