The funeral has taken place this morning of Derry man Dean Millar who was described as having a 'beautiful heart'.
A huge crowd gathered at St Mary’s Chapel in Creggan for the mass which was officiated by Parish Priest Father Joe Gormley.
Father Gormley said Dean was 'lavished with love' by his parents Patrick and Deirdre and his sisters Shannon and Kelsey.
“He was loved not just in his home, his smiling presence could light up any room
“He was full of fun.
“With his friends he was willing to share that joy first when he went to school at Rosemount Primary School and then at St Joseph’s College.”
He said Dean was a familiar figure at Pilot’s Row Youth Club where his death was deeply felt by his friends.
Dean 'looked out for those who were weaker, especially children' and had a 'beautiful heart' said Fr Gormley.
The 18-year-old entered the River Foyle in the early hours of Sunday March 12 and his body was recovered last Tuesday evening after a five and half week search.
