A man who assaulted a security guard in an apartment complex has been jailed at Derry Magistrates' Court today.
Michael Coyle (43) of Rockmills in Derry admitted one charge of assault that occurred on January 28.
The court heard that the injured party was attempting to do a check to the property and was confronted by the defendant who then spat in the security guards face.
He then slapped him on the back several times and spat at him again.
The whole incident was captured on CCTV and when interviewed the defendant said there had been a verbal disagreement over cleanliness.
Defence counsel Sinead Rogan said her client should get credit for his early plea.
She said that 'obviously a custodial sentence' was appropriate.
Coyle was jailed for four months.
