Waterside man, Ian Peilow was first diagnosed with testicular cancer more than twenty years ago and again faced illness six years ago when he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour. Now in remission, he continues to live with the effects of an acquired brain injury.
Ian said: “I am organising a fundraising concert in aid of the cancer centre at Altnagelvin hospital as a way of saying thank you and giving back to those who cared for me.
“The North West Cancer Centre does not only cover the Derry and Strabane district council area but also parts of counties Omagh, Fermanagh and Donegal.”
Previously Ian held a concert in March 2023 which drew more than 500 people and raised over £10,000 for the North West Cancer Centre.
The evening will feature performances from the internationally acclaimed chamber choir Codetta, alongside a wide range of musicians, choirs and dancers.
Founded in 2000 by Musical Director Dónal Doherty, Codetta has built a stellar reputation for its choral excellence. The choir has performed extensively both nationally and internationally, including in the United States, Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, Norway, Slovenia, Switzerland, and Mexico.
Canon Robert Boyd MBE, Minister of Glendermott Church of Ireland, will host the event.
Acts on the night include: St Columb’s School of Music, Emma Bonner Academy of Irish Dancers, Elizabeth Soyinka (Soloist), Sollus Highland Dancers, Hive Cancer Support Choir & North West Cancer Choir, Susan Wilson and Kieran Connor (Soloists and Duet).
Tickets are priced at £15 and can be purchased at the door on the night.

The Cross Community Variety Concert will take place on Friday, March 27 in St Columb’s Cathedral, beginning at 7.30pm.
