Derry country singer Marty Breslin stands on the threshold of reaching the semi-finals of Ireland’s most prestigious Country Music show - but he needs the support of the people of Derry City and County to do it.

Marty is a contestant on the current season of Glór Tíre, the long-running, hit Country Music show, broadcast on Irish language station TG4. Northern Irish singers regularly make the Semi-Finals and Grand Finals of the series which commands a dedicated audience across Ulster.

It was my dream to be on Glór Tíre, but I feel I can further showcase my singing and entertainment abilities if I reach the Semi-Final,” he says.

Marty, a final year nursing student, will appear on the Glór Tíre Elimination Round on TG4 on Tuesday, February 24 at 9.30pm, competing against fellow Northern Irish singers Maeve Farrell (Down), Jordan McPolin (Down), and Ryan Lynch (Tyrone) for that one remaining Semi-Final place.

I am motivated to give everything I have to reach the Semi-Final,” says Marty. “I have been running my Glór Tíre campaign alongside my dissertation in university. I have dedicated everything to this campaign, through posters, flyers, and radio appearances. Glór Tíre is the next step and I want to continue to show my singing ability on national TV and continue to make everyone proud.”

The power to make Marty’s dream a reality lies with Glór Tire viewers - especially those in Derry and across Northern Ireland - as well as Donegal, where the singer also enjoys a fanbase. Fans and supporters can download the Glór Tíre app from Google Play and the Apple App Store and get voting for Marty.

Marty has already received great support across Derry and neighbouring Donegal and he is hoping that will continue on next week’s Elimination Round.

The people of Derry and Donegal have been amazing,” says Marty. “I have received a lot of support from my family, friends, and the wider community; I have received great support from the Classic Bar in Buncrana, especially who have sponsored campaigns and posters; I have received great support from my University and work in Derry who are all standing behind me and are backing me the entire way.

I want to ask everyone to continue to support my Glór Tíre campaign by downloading the app and voting for me on Tuesday 24th during the live show. I really hope I make everyone proud and that with the support of the Derry and Donegal people I will make it further, not only on Glór Tíre, but throughout my music journey.”

The Glór Tíre Elimination Round will be presented by Aoife Ní Thuairisg. Resident judges Jó Ní Chéide and Caitriona Ní Shuilleabháin will be joined by guest judge, singer-songwriter, Marc Roberts.
