Derry Court
Derry Magistrate's Court heard today how a van was observed driving the wrong way along Queen's Quay before going up a one way street and proceeding up Shipquay Street.
Iamandi Sorin (48) a Romanian national of no fixed abode admitted a series of driving offences that occurred on February 9 in the early hours of the morning.
The court heard that after being observed going the wrong way police stopped the van driven by the defendant and there wasa strong smell of alcohol.
Several empty beer bottles were found in the van and the defendant refused to give a preliminary breath sample.
Sorin was arrested and refused and evidential breath test.

The court was told that the van was registered to a Dublin company.
A defence solicitor said that the defendant was unfamiliar with the area as he was on a short term contract.
She said he had admitted having one bottle of beer but said others used the van and the other bottles may have belonged to them.
Sirin was fined £600 with an immediate warrant and disqualified from driving for 12 months.
