Derry City and Strabane District Council is encouraging food lovers to get ready, as the much-loved Love LegenDerry Food Month returns throughout February across the council area.
The month-long celebration showcases the North West’s outstanding food culture, talented producers and exciting hospitality scene. The 2026 programme will once again place a spotlight on the very best local ingredients, chefs and makers, while offering a wide range of immersive, locally inspired food experiences.
The programme promises four flavour-packed weeks of cookery, tastings, tours and unique dining moments that celebrate everything LegenDerry about the region’s food story.
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Ruairí McHugh, said it was a great opportunity to find out more about the people behind the award-winning products and venues that are putting Derry and Strabane on the culinary map.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to experience the very best of our local food scene, from innovative chefs to passionate producers, all in one vibrant month. I would strongly encourage people to check out the programme and get booking as places are filling up fast. It’s a great opportunity to support the local hospitality industry and the businesses that play such a vital role in our community.”
Tourism Manager with Council, Jennifer O’Donnell, said Love LegenDerry Food Month continues to grow in popularity and importance each year.
“This celebration is about much more than great food - it’s about promoting our local hospitality industry and the people behind it,” she said. “Whether you’re sampling local produce, learning new skills or discovering hidden gems across the district, every booking helps sustain and showcase our incredible food and drink sector.
“We’re really looking forward to welcoming locals and visitors alike for what promises to be our most exciting programme yet.”
The programme will feature cookery workshops, food tours, tastings and hands-on experiences, offering plenty of opportunities to discover local flavours, meet producers and enjoy memorable food moments throughout the city and district.
