On the eve of an international campaign to free prominent Palestinian prisoner, Marwan Barghouti, currently being held in jail in Israel, Palestinian prisoner, Marwan Barghouti,

The event will take place on Friday, November 28 at 6.30pm.

Describing the iconic landmark as "the international symbol of resistence against imperialism, a spokesperson for FFP said: "We will be calling for the release of high profile prisoners, Marwan Barghouti, Ahmad Saadat, and for the freedom of all Palestinians prisoners held hostage under the brutal Israeli regime.

"FFP is working directly with a West Bank based official Palestinian prisoners’ body, with from whom we take our lead," they added.

"The main speaker at Friday night's event will be Tommy McKearney, former H Block prisoner and hunger striker of 1980, and co founder of FFP. Tommy is an author and a prolific writer. He currently writes a monthly column for Socialist Voice.

"He will be joined by former H Block comrades to support the launch of the Free Marwan Barghouti campaign. Activists, Artists, and singers will raise their voices for the freedom of our brothers and sisters in Palestine.

"We will not only demand the release of Marwan Barghouti but of all Palestinian prisoners held hostage in Israeli dungeons and for the release of prisoners’ for Palestine held in British prisons, some of whom are on hunger strike for five basic demands. 

"While FFP was founded on the five demands of Palestinian prisoners, who were inspired by the five demands of the 1980/81 hunger strikes in the H Blocks and Armagh prisons here in the north of Ireland, prisoners for Palestine held in HMP jails, are also inspired to demand five just demands. FFP strongly support the five demands of the 33 people, Including the Filton 24, in British prisons. 

"The five demands called for by Palestinian prisoners are: A global observatory for Palestinians in Israeli prisons; Israeli authorities be made answerable for crimes against Palestinian prisoners; interrnational human rights organisations secure humanitarian protection for Palestinian prisoners; EU and international organisations implement the BDS programme; and movements worldwide support the Palestinian cause and the release of All its prisoners."
