A woman has appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court charged with attempted criminal damage.

Aoife O'Hagan (29) of Dacre Terrace in Derry was charged following an incident in a Waterside hostel where two residents were said to be fighting.

O'Hagan was said to be 'very angry', screaming and shouting while trying to kick in the other resident's door.

A defence solicitor said that O'Hagan's behavior was 'regrettable', adding that she has 'long standing issues'.

District Judge Ted Magill noted that O'Hagan had been sentenced to two years and eight months last December in Derry Crown Court, pointing out that she had 25 previous convictions, including eight for assaulting police and two for criminal damage.

He sentenced her to one month in custody, suspended for twelve months.
