Man returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on 14 historical sex offences

He faces a total of 14 charges including one of rape, five counts of indecent assault on a female and eight counts of gross indecency with or towards a child against two alleged victims

A local man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a series of historical sex offences. 

The man who cannot be identified in order to protect the identity of the alleged victims in the case appeared at a Preliminary Enquiry at Derry Magistrate's Court today. 

He faces a total of 14 charges including one of rape, five counts of indecent assault on a female and eight counts of gross indecency with or towards a child against two alleged victims. 

All of the charges are alleged to have occurred on dates between December 7 1996 and December 6 2001.

It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions. 

The man said he did not want to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage. 

He was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a date to be fixed.
