Police in Derry are appealing for information and witnesses following reports of an altercation involving young people.
Chief Inspector Cathal Pearce said: “We received a report at approximately 2.10am on Sunday, November 16, that a large group of young people were fighting in the Artillery Street area.
“The young people dispersed from the area, prior to officers arrival. One male, believed to be involved in the altercation, was however, located with an injury to his head.
“Our enquiries are continuing to determine a motive and who was involved - we also believe weapons were used during this disturbance.
“Anyone who witnessed what happened or noticed suspicious behaviour, is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 187 16/11/25.”
A report can also be made using the online reporting form via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport.
Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
