Internationally renowned journalist is launching his book 'COMPLICIT: Britain’s Role in the Destruction of Gaza' in Derry.
The launch is being hosted by Think Left and will take place in St Columba's Hall on Thursday, November 27, at 7.30pm. Copies of the book will be available at the event.
A Think left spokesperson said: "Peter Oborne is a multi-award winning journalist and political commentator known for his fearless and forensic approach. 'COMPLICIT: Britain's Role in the Destruction of Gaza' is a powerful and incendiary indictment of Britain's involvement in the ongoing genocide in Palestine. The book lays bare the extent of British complicity in the destruction of Gaza, challenging both government policies and media narratives that have historically downplayed or ignored this role. It has been described as a searing history that spares no political party and exposes the deep-rooted issues behind the conflict.
"Over his career, Oborne has established himself as a foremost expert on British foreign policy, particularly focusing on the Middle East, including Iraq, Afghanistan, and Palestine. He has been widely recognised for his incisive critiques of government actions and media complicity in shaping public narratives around these wars. He has contributed to and appeared on numerous prominent media outlets.
"Oborne held senior positions at both the right-wing Daily Telegraph and Spectator magazine, however, his fierce opposition to the foreign policy of the Blair government, put him at odds with the British establishment. Beyond print, he has been a frequent commentator on television and radio, providing expert analysis on international affairs and British political dynamics.
"Throughout his career, Oborne has been a vocal critic of British involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan, highlighting the human cost and geopolitical consequences of these interventions. His work scrutinises the motivations behind British foreign policy decisions and the often overlooked impact on local populations," said the Think Left spokesperson.
Peter Oborne currently writes for various publications and appears regularly on platforms that engage with political and international issues.
His recent interviews and discussions have been featured in outlets such as Prospect Magazine and Declassified UK, where he continues to shed light on media bias and political accountability.
Oborne is a regular contributor to Channel 4 News and is one of the most important critics of British policy working in journalism today.
