A man has been jailed at Derry Magistrate's Court today for slamming a door on his sister's toe.

Ryan Martin Tracey (34) of Mimosa Court in Derry admitted a charge of assault on his sister on March 23 last year.

The court heard that the injured party returned home and found the defendant outside their mother's address.

He said he wanted to speak to their mother but she told him the woman needed a break from him.

An altercation then took place between Tracey and another person and when his sister asked him to leave he slammed the door on her toe.

Defence counsel Stephen Chapman said that he had closed the door in anger.

Tracey was jailed for three months.
