A man has pleaded guilty at Derry Crown Court to sex offences a barrister described as a 'one relatively short lived incident'.

John Spiers (47) of Beigh Terrace in Maghera was charged with sexual assault on a female on October 6 last year.

He was also charged with attempted sexual assault on the same female on the same date as well as an assault on her.

When the charges were put to him he pleaded guilty.

The court was told that as well as a pre-sentence report the defence said a medical report was also required.

The case will be reviewed on October 23.
