Getting ready to do the zipline to raise awareness of organ donation
A zipline fundraiser challenge will be taking place at Oakfire Adventure Centre this Sunday (September 28).
The fundraiser has been organised by the Altnagelvin Renal Support Group in light of Organ Donation Week (September 22 to September 28).
The group ran the same event last year and was hailed a huge success. Last year the event saw 45 people taking part. They are hoping this year is bigger and better. More people are expected to take part to raise awareness for organ donation
This year Mayor of Derry and Strabane District Council, Ruairi McHugh will be making an appearance and hopefully participating.
To book to take part please ring: 02871 296189. Minimum donation is £10 per person.
As it’s Organ Donation Week, the group are asking those who haven’t yet done so, to help save lives by confirming their decision on the NHS Organ Donor Register.
One person can save up to nine lives as an organ donor, and even more if they also donate tissue.
If you want to be an organ donor, the best way to make this known is by being on the NHS Organ Donor Register and sharing it with family.
