A new film celebrating the 40-year history of Dove House Community Trust will air online on Wednesday, September 17.
The documentary, first shown during Féile 2025 to a packed room in Derry's Maldron Hotel, was produced by local filmmaker Seán Coyle and tells the story of Dove House from its beginnings in 1984 to the present day.
Dove House was established in the mid-1980s in the Bogside to provide welfare and education support for residents, before going on to become a centre for advice and community development.
The film looks back at those early years and the many projects and organisations that grew out of Dove House over the decades.
Manager Jayne Quigg said the film was a chance to celebrate and reflect on how far the organisation has come: “This documentary captures the spirit of what Dove House has always been about - people coming together to support one another and to help deliver positive change in our community.
“We’re very proud of the work that has been carried out here over the past forty years. It’s also about looking forward. Dove House is still growing, still adapting, and still at the heart of the Bogside, continuing to support families and the wider community.
“We have much to look forward to in terms of regeneration with the the redevelopment of Meenan Square and the exciting potential it holds for the area.
“We want to thank Féile for their vision in helping to deliver this film, the amazing local talent of Seán Coyle for his work in telling our story, everyone who took part in the film, and all those who joined us for the launch.”
