Derry woman meets Pope Leo XIV in the Vatican

Cara McLaughlin meeting with Pope Leo in the Vatican recently

Cara McLaughlin, an RE teacher originally from Derry, met with Pope Leo XIV in the Vatican recently.

Cara was with a group of RE teachers and young people from across northern Europe on a Jubilee Year pilgrimage to Rome.

She presented the Holy Father with a Sr Clare plaque and prayer card.

In Cara’s own words from a post on Saturday: "What a beautiful and blessed experience to be invited to have an audience with Pope Leo this morning at the Vatican, he was so kind to ask about where Sister Clare was from and kindly took her plaque and prayer card. It was a real honour to be there.”
