Sinn Féin Councillor Pat Murphy has expressed his solidarity with the Global March to Gaza and called for detained participants to be released to join the march.
Cllr Murphy  stated: “The ongoing genocide in Gaza, combined with the inaction of western governments, is a stain on humanity.
“Over the next three days, thousands from 80 countries are expected to march 48km to the Rafah border, demanding an immediate ceasefire, protection for all healthcare facilities, unrestricted humanitarian aid access, and an end to the illegal blockade on Gaza.
“It is unacceptable to continue standing by while Israel commits war crimes.
“We must intensify pressure on the international community, advocating for isolation of Israel through boycott, divestment, and sanctions to end the genocide.
“I stand in solidarity with everyone taking part in the march especially to those who have faced obstacles to participation. They should be granted access to Egypt and those detained should be released to join this act of solidarity with the Palestinian people.
“I wish all participants safety and success on the Global March to Gaza.”
