Man and woman charged with an assault in Derry city centre returned for trial

A man and a woman have been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on charges linked to an assault in the city centre.

Martin Sheridan (31) of Spencer Road and Courtney Temple (20) of Magazine Street both in Derry appeared at a Preliminary Inquiry at the local Magistrates' Court today. 

Sheridan was charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on a man on September 6, 2024.

Temple was charged with assaulting the same man on the same date.

It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions. 

Neither Sheridan nor Temple said they wanted to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage. 

Sheridan was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on August 19 and remanded in continuing custody while Temple was returned to the same date and released on bail.
