Man released on bail on non-fatal strangulation charge of man in Derry

A man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a non fatal strangulation charge.

Declan Rigby (39) of Moyola Walk in Derry appeared at a Preliminary Enquiry at the local Magistrate's Court

He was charged with, on July 28 2024, assault causing actual bodily harm and non-fatal strangulation of a man.

It was accepted that there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions.

Rigby chose not to call any witnesses and not to submit any statements at this stage.

He was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on June 25 and released on bail.
