Woman returned for trial on charge of child abduction in Derry

A woman has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a charge of child abduction. 

Jacqueline Friars (42) of Bradley Park in Derry appeared at a Preliminary Enquiry at the local Magistrate's Court today. 

She faces one charge of taking a child out of the jurisdiction without the appropriate consent on July 24 2022.

It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions. 

Friars replied 'we need a trial' when asked did she wish to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage.

She was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on June 24 and released on bail.
