Motorist caught speeding at 110mph on County Derry road

Police are again warning motorists to slow down and drive responsibly on rural roads after a 'reckless and thoughtless act' from one driver on a rural road in County Derry.

The motorist was detected by officers from the Maydown Road Policing Interceptors driving 110mph on the Drumcroone Road, Coleraine, a rural road.

A spokesperson said: "Speeding on rural roads where tractors, livestock, or pedestrians may appear unexpectedly can have deadly consequences.

"With this good weather boosting silage operations, our rural roads are busy with tractors and agricultural vehicles which are moving slower and require extra caution from all road users.

"Maydown Road Policing Interceptors detected a motorist at 110mph on the Drumcroone Road, Coleraine, a rural road. This reckless and thoughtless act put so many road users at serious risk. The driver will face court proceedings for this in the coming weeks.
