A twenty-two years old Co. Tyrone man who is currently in custody in Maghaberry Prison has pleaded guilty at his arraignment before the Crown Court in Derry to burgling two houses in the Waterside area of Derry almost three years ago.
The defendant, Matthew Paul Grant whose address was given as Molesworth Street in Cookstown, pleaded guilty to burgling a house at Hayesbank Park on June 27, 2022, and stealing a mobile 'phone, keys and a small amount of cash.
He also admitted burgling a second house at nearby Riverview Terrace on the same date and stealing a wallet, a purse and another mobile 'phone.
Grant additionally pleaded guilty to stealing a Suzuki Vitara car which was later recovered damaged, also on June 27, 2022.
He pleaded not guilty to the attempted burglary of a second house at Hayesbank Park.

Judge Neil Rafferty K.C. adjourned the case until May 13 and ordered a pre-sentence report in relation to the three charges Grant has admitted. He said Grant would probably be sentenced for the offences in six weeks time.
