Alliance for Choice Derry are hosting a week full of events to mark International Women’s Day 2025, which concludes with the International Women’s Day March on Saturday, March 8.
This year, the theme is “Zero Tolerance to Gender Based Violence.” Sadly, we have seen an increase in incidents of Gender Based Violence in our city throughout 2024. From working directly with people in the city, we have seen the fear and stress this causes. This International Women’s Day, we want people to feel empowered and join us on the streets, to stand up against Gender Based Violence.
Activist Bethany Moore states: “Alliance for Choice Derry have been at the forefront of this issue; organising rallies, public meetings and vigils to commemorate the lives of women who have been murdered by men in the North.”
“This issue impacts everyone in our communities, and it requires everyone to be a part of the solution. We want the people of Derry to join us this week to call for a zero tolerance approach to Gender Based Violence.”
International Women’s Day is rooted in communities making positive change and amplifying the voices of the marginalised. This year; proceeds from our events will go directly to marginalised groups, both locally and globally, in need of support.
