A man has been remanded in custody at Derry Magistrates Court charged with breaching a restraining order and making threats to kill.

Neil McFeely (40) of Lawrence Hill in Derry was charged with the offences that were said to have occurred on February 12 and February 15 after police were called by his former partner.

She said that McFeely was at her door and was refusing to leave, only doing so when she told him she had called the police.
Before leaving, he was said to have threatened to cut her face off' and was subsequently arrested for breaching a restraining order and making threats to kill.

After his arrest, McFeely was transferred to hospital after telling police that he had taken an overdose. He was given bail on the understanding that he would remain in hospital.

On February 15, police received another call from McFeely's former partner where she was heard to be shouting 'get out!'.
Police arrived and found McFeely and another male refusing to leave the injured party's apartment.

Bail was objected to as McFeely has a noted domestic history with two other partners and has 40 previous convictions, including witness intimidation.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that the breach of restraining order was admitted but McFeely 'categorically denies' making threats to kill.

District Judge Oonagh Mullan denied bail, saying that McFeely has 'no intention of changing' and was 'obviously unable to curb his behavior'.

He will appear again on March 13.
