A man has appeared at Derry Magistrates' Court charged with breaching his bail conditions after being caught in possession of a phone.

The man, who cannot be named as he was granted anonymity due to the threat existing in the city, was on bail for being in possession of cannabis, pregabalin and ketamine and possessing cannabis with intent to supply on January 27 last year.

As part of his bail conditions he was prohibited from having a mobile phone but was found to be in possession of one by police on January 19.

Defense solicitor Seamus Quigley asked for bail to be granted with updated conditions, namely that he not have any Internet enabled mobile device.

Bail was granted and he will appear again on February 19.
