Suspended sentence for Donegal man at Derry Magistrate's Court

Derry Magistrates' Court

A man has appeared at Derry Magistrates' Court charged with communicating information about a member of the security forces likely to be of use to terrorists.

Andrew Curry (40) of Victoria Road in Bready outside Derry appeared charged with three counts of communicating information on January 19 about police officers.

He also was charged with improper use of the communications system on the same date.

A police officer connected the accused to the charges but said that bail could be agreed.

Defence barrister Stephen Mooney said police had agreed to bail 'subject to stringent conditions'.

A police officer told the court that the conditions included no contact with any of the injured parties, not to go within 100 metres of any injured party, not to have any Internet enabled device and not to get any third party to post any information on Social Media.

Curry is also not to consume any alcohol and to make an appointment with his GP.

Curry was released on his own bail and will appear at Strabane Magistrates' Court on February 13.
