Plans are afoot to redevelop a petrol station complex on the Donegal-Derry border.

The once-thriving petrol station and shop at Mullenan, just inside the Derry side of the border, is set for a major revamp.

The site, just over 3km from the villages of Carrigans and Killea, has been a cash and carry fuel depot of A&N Fuels Ltd in recent years.

Now, Noel McLaughlin has sought permission from Derry City and Strabane District Council for a redevelopment of the complex.

Mr McLaughlin is seeking permission for a proposed commercial development which includes the demolition of existing shed, office and canopy.

Under the proposed works, if approved, the site would see the construction of new solid fuel storage shed, construction of new solid fuel storage shed with take away coffee hatch; construction of new filling station forecourt with 4 pumps and canopy along with associated underground fuel tanks, site works and connection to existing services.

The application is currently in the planning phase with the application having been submitted in recent weeks.
