Road Policing Interceptors from Maydown have issued an appeal following an incident on the A6 dual carriageway at Brackfield, Claudy on Sunday evening.
A spokesperson said: "A straw bale is presumed to have fallen off a vehicle on Sunday, December 22 at around 5:20pm.
"It was on the A6 dual carriageway at Brackfield, Claudy just prior to the Ardmore Road junction on the city bound lane.
"This was during the hours of darkness, causing a collision.
"Anyone who may have witnessed it falling from a vehicle, or indeed if it fell from your vehicle to contact 101 quoting CW 1097 of 22/12/24.
"This incident illustrates the importance of checking that any load carried is adequately secure."
