To commemorate the 1500 anniversary of St. Brigid's death in 2024, Deirdre Brennan travelled around the country to produce a photographic and audio project on women and children named Brigid or its iterations.
Participants ranged from eight weeks to a hundred years old with a large part of the project taking place in Derry and Northern Ireland.
Brennan photographed forty-two women and children named Brigid at the Playhouse over a number of days as well as recording an audio presentation of each woman who participated.
In the audio presentation, the audience has the opportunity to hear from female farmers, women who worked in the shirt factories, were on the Bloody Sunday march and established the first integrated school in Ireland.
The exhibition titled 'Looking for Brigid in Derry' will join the lineup of Culture Night events happening on Friday, September 20 and takes place in St Columb's Hall from 6.00pm - 9.00pm.
