Derry Magistrate's Court
A woman in custody who refused to speak to her solicitor or a health professional declined to come out of her cell to appear at Derry Magistrate's Court.
Megan Callaghan (35) of Clon Dara in Derry was charged with three counts of assaulting police on May 20, criminal damage to a police vehicle on the same date and resisting police.
Callaghan was also charged with stealing groceries on May 14.
When the case was due to be heard defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that he had been unable to take any instructions from Callaghan even to make a bail application.
District Judge Barney McElholm said that if Callaghan wished to appear in court then she was entitled to do so and asked for her to be produced.
After a period of time the court was told that Callaghan was refusing to appear.
She was remanded in custody to appear again next month.
