Two men arrested as part of Garda probe into Creeslough explosion

The men, both aged in their 50s, were arrested on Friday morning and are being held at separate Garda stations in Donegal

Ten people died in the explosion at a commercial and residential complex in the village on October 7, 2022

Two men have been arrested as part of the Garda investigation into the Creeslough explosion which claimed the lives of ten people.

The men, both aged in their 50s, were arrested this Friday morning for alleged offences contrary to the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997.

Both men are being detained under the provisions of section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984 at separate Garda stations in Donegal. 

Those who died in the explosion at a commercial and residential complex in the village on October 7, 2022 were: James O’Flaherty, Jessica Gallagher, Martin McGill, Catherine O’Donnell, James Monaghan, Hugh Kelly, Martina Martin, Robert Garwe, Shauna Flanagan Garwe and Leona Harper.

Gardaí said the investigation into the explosion is continuing.  The probe, which is the most complex undertaken by gardaí in recent years and involves over one thousand lines of inquiry, is being coordinated from Milford Garda station. It is led by local gardaí in the Donegal Division, supported by the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (GNBCI) and other agencies, including the Health & Safety Authority (HSA) & the Commission for the Regulation of Utilities (CRU).
