Police have seized a quantity of suspected Class A controlled drugs with an estimated street value of £50,000 in Derry.
Two men have been arrested following a search of a vehicle.
Detective Inspector Phelan from the Police Service’s Paramilitary Crime Task Force said: “Officers travelling in the vicinity of the Foyle Bridge on Wednesday afternoon, 20th December had reason to stop and search a van also travelling on the bridge.
“As a result of the search, a number of items including a mobile phone and suspected Class A controlled drugs were seized from the vehicle.
“Two men, aged 46 and 43, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession of a Class A controlled drug and possession of a Class A controlled drug with intent to supply.
“The 46-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of driving while disqualified. They remain in custody at this time, assisting with enquiries.
“Drug supply and misuse is a vicious cycle that we need to collectively break, and we all have a part to play.
“Our investigation is continuing and I would encourage anyone with information about the supply or use of illegal drugs to contact police on 101.”
