Derry Court: Mother and son returned for trial to Crown Court on assault charges

Man jailed at Derry Crown Court after getting into bed beside a 13-year-old girl

A mother and son have been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on assault charges.

Jason Donaghey (35) of Glenabbey Crescent and Jackie Donaghey (59) of Forest Park both in Derry appeared at a preliminary enquiry at the local Magistrate's Court today.

They were both charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent on a female on October 8 last year.

Jason Donaghey was further charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice on October 9 and 12 by trying to get the alleged victim in the case to withdraw her statement.

It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions.

Neither defendant said that they wanted to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage.

Both were returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on September 14 with Jason Donaghey in custody and his mother on bail.
