Derry Court: Man pulled out in front of former partner's car

A man who pulled out in a van in front of a car being driven by his former partner claimed he hadn't seen her Derry Magistrate's Court heard today.

Darren Matthew Craig (47) of Philip Street in Derry admitted a charge of breaching a non molestation order on March 1 and also a charge of careless driving on the same date.

The court heard that the woman was driving down Spencer Road shortly after 1pm.

As she stopped at traffic lights she saw her former partner sitting in a van.

As she went to move off the van pulled out in front of her making her feel intimidated.

Police spoke to the defendant some time later and get said he did not intend to intimidate the woman and he simply had not seen her.

Defence counsel Grainne McAnaney said it was a case of domestic abuse and was 'a troubling incident'.

She asked for the case to be adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.

Craig will be sentenced on September 22.
