Derry's Bishop Street court house.

A man who became 'aggrieved' when police came to arrest his son assaulted a police officer Derry Magistrate's Court heard today.

Mark Joseph Brogan (53) of Bluebellhill Gardens in Derry admitted one charge of assault on police on March 18.

The court heard that police went to an address and the defendant was there.

In the course of the police operation the defendant pushed a police officer and grabbed at his face.

He was restrained and arrested.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that the incident occurred in the defendant's home.

He said police had come to arrest his son and Brogan felt there was no justification for that and lost his temper.

The case was adjourned until August 7 to allow Brogan to attend.
