Derry Court: Man became 'extremely disorderly' and abusive

Derry Magistrate's Court heard today how when police were dealing with an incident a local man became abusive.

Sean Hegarty (31) of Spruce Meadows in Derry admitted a charge of disorderly behaviour that occurred on December 3 last year.

The court heard that police were in attendance and we're speaking to another person when Hegarty became 'extremely disorderly' and abusive.

The court heard that there were young children in the area at the time.

Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that the defendant had been assaulted and 'took umbrage' at the attitude the police were taking to the incident.

Hegarty was sentenced to 3 months in prison suspended for 12 months.
