Brand new gastropub The Broody Hen has opened its doors at the Diamond in the heart of Derry City.
Owned and managed by Anthony and his wife Shauna, the exciting new business - located at the former site of Granny Annies - is setting out to impress customers from the get-go with an all-new team of 18 trained staff, and a clucking great food and drinks menu which includes gluten free and vegan options.
Quality ingredients and exceptional service are central to the ethos at The Broody Hen, with both Anthony and Shauna hopeful they can win the hearts (and bellies!) of the people of Derry with their international hospitality experience.
Having owned bars & restaurants overseas they are excited to offer Derry something different with a menu you’ll want to tell your friends about.
Memorable dishes include a roast dinner served in a yorkshire pudding the size of a plate, bangers and mash with butcher’s choice of sausage, the broody herd burger, cajun tagliatelle pasta, and chocolate fudge cake served warm with dairy milk chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream.
The innovative duo also plan to launch a signature cocktail made with Buckfast, and another called ‘Money to Burn’ featuring £20 notes made of magician’s flash paper for extra pizzazz.
What you see is just the start of what you get at The Broody Hen; the pair also have ambitious plans they hope to bring to fruition shortly, including what they call ‘Disco Brunch’, a monthly event where customers can eat, drink and be merry while being entertained by performers.
“It’s like Bingo Loco but at lunchtime on a Saturday,” Anthony says.
“Music pumping. Bottomless brunch. A real party.”
They also plan to roll out themed student nights in August just in time for Freshers Week.
The location can seat approximately 300 people, with an upstairs space available for private functions such as birthdays, hens & stags and everything else in life worth raising a glass too.
Whether you’re a Derry native or you’re just stopping by, you won’t want to skip a visit to The Broody Hen!
