Derry Court: 36-year-old man returned to trial on sex offences

Man returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on 28 charges

A 36-year-old man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a series of sex offences.

The man who cannot be named to protect the identity of the alleged victim in the case appeared at a preliminary enquiry at Derry Magistrate's Court today. 

He was charged with with two counts of sexual assault that were said to have occurred on October 2 2021.

He was also charged with sexual assault by penetration on the same female on the same date.

The defendant was also charged with exposure again on October 2 2021 and one charge of possessing cocaine. 

It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions.

The man said he did not want to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage. 

He was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on July 7 and released on bail.
